1. System Requirements
------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following minimum configuration is required to install and run this
software:

 - PC-compatible Pentium(R)-class system
 - Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP 
 - Color SVGA (800x600) monitor
 - 128 MB (or more) RAM
 - At least 30 MB free hard disk space 

The following hardware is recommended for typical users:

 - CD-ROM (for installation media)
 - Available 9 pin male serial (COM) port (for serial logger interface 
   cable)
 - Available USB port (for USB logger interface cable)

 - Software Read Me (Wachendorff_ReadMe.txt, this document)

 - Online help is available in the software by selecting "Contents" from
   the "Help" menu in the software.

3. Installing/Uninstalling Software
------------------------------------------------------------------------

* Installing from CD-ROM

 - Close all open applications.
 - Insert the CD-ROM labeled "Wachendorff Data Recorder Software" into the 
   host computer's CD-ROM drive.
 - From the Windows Start menu, choose the "Run..." command.
 - type "D:\v2.07\setup.exe" into the "Open" field and click "OK". 
 - If you are using a CD-ROM drive other than the "D:\" drive, use that
   drive letter in the step above.
 - Follow the on screen instructions to install the software.

After installation, the software will be listed on the Windows Start menu 
under the "Wachendorff 2.07" software program group by default. The program
files will be located in the "C:\Program Files\Wachendorff 2.07\" directory.

To uninstall the software, open the Windows Start menu and locate the 
"Wachendorff 2.07" software program group. Click the "Uninstall Wachendorff 2.07"
item and follow the on screen instructions to remove the software.

4. Installing PDA Software
------------------------------------------------------------------------

* Installing from CD-ROM

 - Close all open applications.
 - Make sure the Palm Desktop software is installed on your computer.
 - Make sure the Wachendorff Data Recorder Software is installed on your 
   computer (see section 3, "Installing/Uninstalling Software").
 - Attach the Palm download cradle to your computer, and place the 
   handheld on the cradle.
 - Insert the CD-ROM labeled "Wachendorff Data Recorder Software" into the 
   host computer's CD-ROM drive.
 - From the Windows Start menu, choose the "Run..." command.
 - Type "D:\Palm\SetUp_Palm.exe" into the "Open" field and click "OK".
 - If you are using a CD-ROM drive other than the "D:\" drive, use that
   drive letter in the step above.
 - Follow the on screen instructions to install the software.

Refer to the Palm Quick Start Guide for further details on installing the 
PDA software.

5. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: Why do I receive "Invalid Page Fault" error when installing the 
   software? 

A: You will receive this error message if you are running Windows 95 or 
   Windows 98 and do not have Microsoft's distributed COM (DCOM) package 
   installed. 

   To install DCOM for Windows 95:
   - Close all open applications.
   - Insert the CD-ROM labeled "Wachendorff Data Recorder Software" into your 
     CD-ROM drive.
   - From the Windows Start menu, choose the "Run..." command
   - Type "D:\Support\DCOM\dcom95.exe" into the "Open" field and click "OK".
   - If you are using a CD-ROM drive other than the "D:\" drive, use that
     drive letter in the step above.

   To install DCOM for Windows 98:
   - Close all open applications.
   - Insert the CD-ROM labeled "Wachendorff Data Recorder Software" into your 
     CD-ROM drive.
   - From the Windows Start menu, choose the "Run..." command
   - Type "D:\Support\DCOM\dcom98.exe" into the "Open" field and click "OK".
   - If you are using a CD-ROM drive other than the "D:\" drive, use that
     drive letter in the step above.

   The most recent versions of these programs may be downloaded from 
   Microsoft's website at:

   http://www.microsoft.com/com/resources/downloads.asp

Q: Why do I receive the error message "This program requires Microsoft 
   Scripting for Windows in order to run." when starting the software? 

A: You will receive these error messages if you do not have Microsoft's 
   Windows Scripting package installed. 

   To install Microsoft's Windows Scripting for Windows 95 or 98:
   - Close all open applications.
   - Insert the CD-ROM labeled "Wachendorff Data Recorder Software" into your 
     CD-ROM drive.
   - From the Windows Start menu, choose the "Run..." command
   - Type "D:\Support\VBScript\Win9X\scr55en.exe" into the "Open" field and
     click "OK".
   - If you are using a CD-ROM drive other than the "D:\" drive, use that
     drive letter in the step above.

   To install Microsoft's Windows Scripting for Windows 2000:
   - Close all open applications.
   - Insert the CD-ROM labeled "Wachendorff Data Recorder Software" into your 
     CD-ROM drive.
   - From the Windows Start menu, choose the "Run..." command
   - Type "D:\Support\VBScript\Win2000\scripten.exe" into the "Open" field 
     and click "OK".
   - If you are using a CD-ROM drive other than the "D:\" drive, use that
     drive letter in the step above.
 
   To install Microsoft's Windows Scripting for Windows NT:

   - Close all open applications.
   - Insert the CD-ROM labeled "Wachendorff Data Recorder Software" into your 
     CD-ROM drive.
   - From the Windows Start menu, choose the "Run..." command
   - Type "D:\Support\VBScript\WinNT\scr55en.exe" into the "Open" field and 
     click "OK".
   - If you are using a CD-ROM drive other than the "D:\" drive, use that
     drive letter in the step above.

   The most recent versions of these programs may be downloaded from

Q: My problem isn't in this list, what do I do? 

A: If you are still having problems with the Wachendorff 2.07 software, 
   make sure you have the latest service packs from Microsoft installed.
